I've been toying with the idea of a colour change for my hair for a little while.
It's normally a case of every 3 months going for a full head of foils to go as light as possible.
About a month ago I'd booked myself in but when I mentioned I'd been using John Frieda lightening spray on my roots they couldn't colour my hair as the salt would react with the dye. Sure enough a test piece shows that my hair would've crumbled and quite frankly I'd rather have 3 inch roots than be bald.
My roots are so bad now that if I pull my hair back I look full on brunette and the worse the roots are getting the more I think I should probably have a bit of a change with my hair.
I've been having a look over the past few days and I still want to go blonde but more honey blonde, something a little softer and less maintenance, although of course getting my hair done 4 times a year...eeek or more like 3 isn't really an arduous task.
These are the kind of colours I'm really liking right now. Really drawn to Jennifer Aniston's colour but just news to remember I won't actually come out of the salon looking like her.
Roll on the colour change!

Harvey Nics Christmas Ad
A little bit slow to post this but over the past week I've been in love with Harvey Nichol's Christmas ad.
The perfect amount of mystery to draw you in and you've no idea where it's going until the last few seconds.

I have hair!
I'm a bridesmaid twice next year and I am now realising that no amount of hair growing pills or hair treatments is going to make my hair grow about 4 inches between now and March.
I decided I would try hair extensions...which to be fair with my length hair (about half way down my neck) doesn't look great - but what fun!
I got these ones from eBay as they were dirt cheap and I didn't want to splash out something that my doubt I'll end up never actually wearing out the house.
From the front it looks ridiculous as my roots are SO bad right now, but pinned back like this they actually look okay - even if they do feel like hessian!
I'm going to attempt to put them in again once I've had my hair coloured next week and see how they look then. I'm slightly worried they look a bit green and don't necessarily match my hair colour, but if nothing else they may come in handy if I ever decide to go to a fancy dress party as Pamela Anderson!

Mr Blobby nails it
I mentioned last week that I'd ordered my nail art pens and after what feels like forever they've finally arrived (winging their way over from China meant I had to wait a fortnight for delivery).
I'm no artist so I've started slowly and this is my first attempt, an homage (not intentionally) to Noel Edmond's sidekick Mr Blobby.
There are 24 colours in total that I got from eBay for £6.49, what a bargain. Most places I was looking at sold them for about 99p each.
Coming up to Christmas I am most definitely looking forward to getting the red glitter one into something, and although the brown isn't the most attractive I may get adventurous and attempt my very own Ruldolph, complete with red nose.
I have a pretty quiet weekend planned so I have a feeling I know what I'll be doing whilst I'm plonked in front of X Factor contestants on Saturday night!

Sleek & Chic
Last night I went out for a friend's birthday and after discovering gel eyeliner earlier in the week (I REALLY am slow to the game) I decided to go for full on vampy eyes (is that what you call it when you just cake it on?!)
I still have a long way to go before I can do any look extra ridiculous thick on my eyelids but I'm really pleased with just how much easier it is to use than a pencil.
I used Sleek's ink pot, which I managed to bag for free as part of Superdrug's current 3 for 2 offer on all cosmetics - score!
I would never normally put eyeliner underneath my eyes...are they called the bottom lids?! However, I found the gel so much easier and neater to use and apart from a slight eye-bogey look at the beginning of the night with the gel culminating in the corner of my eye (nothing a cotton wool bud couldn't sort out) it lasted all night, to the point where it was a bit of a bugger to wash off!
I can 100% say I'm a gel eyeliner convert. A good brush is key when applying - I used a Sue Moxley brush which was quite firm and I think that's best in this case, especially if, like me, you don't have particularly steady hands.
I will report back when I can get the top line a lot thinner...that could be a while...

Red & Gold Glitter Nails
I am a massive fan of nail art, every week I'm religiously checking out Fuck Yeah Nail Art
I'm still taking baby steps but this weekend I decided to add a little bling to my nails by way of some gold glitter.
I used Christian Dior Vernis nail polish in Poppy, which is one of my absolute favourites. I find it so hard to find a nail varnish that lasts longer than a night and this one I can get away with for about 2 days before it chips, which for me is pretty impressive.
I used Nubar nail jewels in Sahara on my ring fingers - all over would've been fun but way too messy to do myself and a bit over the top...it's not Christmas yet.
To add the glitter I painted a clear base coat on my nails and whilst it was still wet dipped my nail in and waited for it to dry. Once it's set you can wipe away any excess so it makes for a really clean look.
I've ordered a whole set of nail art pens and am hoping to get a little more creative when they arrive.
We shall see...!!

Versace for H&M
Well it was supposedly sold out in 30 minutes but 2 and a half hours after it went on sale I managed to bag myself a couple of the scarves on sale as part of the Versace & H&M collaboration.
To be honest I think most of the collection is pretty garish, but then what else would you expect of Versace?! I'd be disappointed with anything less.
It's going to be a pretty funny sight seeing someone strutting down Oxford Street in these bad boys...
To be fair though there are a couple of nice pieces. At a push I'd go for these, but I think that's because they exclude pretty much all of the Versace lairy-ness.

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Body Lotion - Can't Stop Stroking Myself
Two Garnier posts in a row...I clearly am a fan.
I tend to be a Palmer's Cocoa Butter kind of girl when it comes to moisturising, but I love a good offer so when I saw Garnier's latest offering I thought I'd give it a go.
Wow. I thought winter was all about dry skin, cracked elbows and covering up your whole body until it gets above 15degrees. However for the past couple of week's I've been trialling their new Ultra-Softening Lotion. I opted for the dry to extra-dry skin bottle - if I want a job doing I want it doing well!
I can honestly say I've noticed a remarkable difference in my skin. I really struggle in particular on my elbows and under my arms where my bra sits but it feel so much smooth and although I still moisturise every day I could definitely leave it a couple of days before I would really need to re-apply.
Garnier Roll On Concealer - Hiding Those Late Nights
However, I recently discovered Garnier's Anti-Dark Circles roll on and it is genius.
It's premise is to help reduce dark circles but the concealer element also completely covers that dreary tired look and at less than half the price of Touche Eclat it's hard to resist.
You only need a small amount but it gives great results, and although I couldn't look anything like Kim Kardashian if I tried I've learnt that bringing the roll on slightly lower than your eye socket towards your noses it helps with contouring when applying blusher or bronzer.
Cheekbones and bright eyes in one? Game on!
